Hello,
If we have a 12-cell battery connected in series to charge, what is the recommended solution?
If we divide the 12-cell to 4 by 3 groups, with group 1 and 2, and 2 and 3, each connected by a MOSFET switch. Can we then charge each group individually, and afterwards re-connect the three groups to form a 12-cell series connection?
One concern is that after concatenation the high voltage after the final 12th battery will be above the maximum rating of many charger ICs. Should we use a diode(s) or MOSFET to protect the ICs? How should we account for the voltage drop across the diode(s)/MOSFETs (could be hundreds of mV) when charging? Is there any example circuit?
