TPS62110-HT SYNC tied low switching frequency range?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62110-HT

Hi all,

With the TPS62110-HT connected to an integrated ADC on a TMS320F28335-HT, we are noticing 8x the noise just before entering the ADC when SYNC is tied low than when it is tied high. Presumably this is due to PFM when in power save mode operation- is this a reasonable figure to expect? Also, what is the range of switching frequency when SYNC is low (eg, in PFM mode)? Are there any best practices to reduce this noise?

Thanks!

  • There is no spec for the frequency in PFM mode. It depends on L, Cout, and the load current.

They can look at the SW pin with SYNC high and low to see if the load is high enough to be in PWM mode, even when SYNC is low. It sounds like the load is not high enough. The PFM operation and lower frequency can cause higher noise on ADC inputs.
