Hello Again
I recently I purchased 15 of the Cheep China Knock off LM2587s adj. and tested 10.
I used the exact same foil pattern and the same components as before,, except the LM2587s chips
4 were DOA and the other 6 had the same issue,,
With in the first few seconds of initial start up the chip would go supper nova . The output voltage would increase to the chips max output.
Almost as if the internal R1 at the feedback would fry and go full throttle, even with a 4 watt power supply.
They all got hot even with the 5 volt 800ma power supply,,, where the Ti's version would stay cool even with a 37.5 watt power supply. (12 volt 3.125 amp)
My issue with Ti's chip is they only allow me to sample 3 of their mean little monsters,,
It would be a better comparison if they would allow me to test 7 more,,, then it would be 10 pieces to 10 pieces.
The sad part is I even offered to purchase them through the TI store,, but I was told I had to go through the distributor and pay the over inflated price.
I was told that people were ordering free samples and selling them on the net!!! So people like myself are the ones that suffer But Ti is suffering also,, due to the lack of subjects to test,, makes this a rather unfair review.
I had great success with TI's version But it looks like I won't be posting any more review's due to the new rules on samples.
you see N.G.A. R&D is a not for profit organization,, all funding is totally out of my pocket and I can't justify the extra expense for a few samples. When all I am trying to do is make a positive difference and keep the data true.
So now I leave you all with these words.
The only limits are the limits of our box,
when thinking outside of the box we must first ponder "are we really outside the box or did we just expand the perimeters of our box."
