How to connect GND of TCL59213

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC59213

Hi,

I use a microprocessor at 3.3 Volt to control the source driver TLC59213.

VCC/VDD for the output is from another circuit at 12 Volt.

Should I connect the GND of the TLC59213 to the GND of the microprocessor or the GND of the 12 Volt source?

I would expect the GND of the microprocessor (for the return path of the control current), but fig 4 in the datasheet suggests the GND of the high voltage source.

I can connect the GNDs of both circuits, but I am scared to introduce ground loops.

And more over, how can I know that the current flowing to microprocessor GND is not too high?
