High Current Battery Switching

What can I use to switch between two batteries(A and B), where Battery A is a low C rating and Battery B has a high C rating. The circuit switches to battery B when Battery A goes over a specified current.

Example Battery A:                    Example Battery B:

Voltage: 14.4 (4s1p lipo)          14.4 (4s1p Lipo)

mAh: 6000                                   2000

C rating: 1 C (6A)                       30 C (60A)

  • Right now, we don't have a switcher product for a dual battery pack solution. Would you give me more info?
    1. Which one is the primary battery? Which one is charged first? Which one is discharged first?
    2. Do battery A and battery B both support system load when charge input source is removed? Or, it is just a simple charger without power source selection function.
    3. Do you want to use a SMBus command to set charging parameter? Or, you just want a stand alone charger to handle different battery condition.

    Thanks,
    Wang
  • Battery A is the primary battery, this battery is used until the load pulls too much current from battery A . If the load pulls to much current from battery A the battery management system then switches to battery B(the battery with a higher current rating). So I am not worried about the charging; but instead worried about the discharging of the batteries.
    Example:
Battery A is rated for 6A, the user controls the load using PWM. At 25% PWM the Load pulls 3A. So when the load goes to 75% (9A) the battery management system would switch to battery B until the PWM is lowered under 50%(6A).
