TPS74201 / BIAS pin connection to VIN

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS74201

Hi All,

Now our customer evaluates TPS74201 and consider to connect BIAS pin to VIN. The datasheet recommend to connect BIAS pin to "sense point of the input supply", then I'd like to know where is the sense point. I  guess that that is the sensing point of regulator like DC/DC converter. Then should BIAS pin connect to this point if TPS74201 is located far from DC/DC converter? Or is it better that BIAS pin connect to IN pin shortly like TPS74201EVM?

Best Regards,

Sonoki / Japan Disty

  • Hi Sonoki,

Your understanding is correct. In order to counter any voltage droop on BIAS, it is recommended to connect as close to your source as possible. In your case this is as close to the DC/DC. The farther TPS74201 is from the DC/DC, the more important it is to follow this recommendation for best performance.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
