BQ40Z50 DOD0 VS Vcell

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50

For BQ40Z50 pack with correct chemical ID, Does the DOD0 for cells in Gauging status2 will update when gauge take OCV? Is the DOD0_x update based on the cell voltage? Is the direction that the higher cell voltage has lower DOD0 value?

  • DOD0 is set based on the cell voltage compared to the OCV table and higher the cell voltages will have lower DOD0 values. DOD0 typically updates after the cells have rested. The gauge will set a DOD0 point and update Qmax, if all of the qualifiers have been met. The bq40z50 has special features that will allow DOD0 to update after it exits the rest state after charge where not DOD was set. It is better to allow the cells to rest to the DOD.
  • Thanks a lot, but I confused about"The bq40z50 has special features that will allow DOD0 to update after it exits the rest state after charge where not DOD was set", does the special feature only occurred after charge and no DOD set? But we found if DOD set after charge, then charge again, the DOD0 will update again immediately.
  • Yes, actually the DOD will update after charge complete if a DOD had not updated in the previous rest period. It updates after the DOD@EOC occurs.
