TPS65217D Sleep Mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3358

Gentlemen,

I am using a TPS65217D PMIC to power an AM3358 processor. If possible, I would like to get someone on the phone to help me with several issues I am observing. Here are the items.

1) The AM3358 turns OFF the PWR_EN signal with the OFF bit set to '0' in the PMIC status register. The PMIC appears to enter SLEEP mode as intended. However, when the PB_IN is activated, the PMIC appears to go to OFF mode rather than active. My expectation was that PB_IN would cause the PMIC to go from SLEEP to ACTIVE. Since this behavior does not match the Data Sheet, I would like help to figure out why this is happening.

2) Our Software Engineers have been attempting to get the RTC in the AM3358 to automatically wake up after some predetermined interval. When the PMIC enters SLEEP mode I have verified that the AM3358 has power at the RTC_VDD pin, a valid 32Khz clock at the RTC oscillator input and the WAKEUPn and RTCPWRONRESETn signals are at 1.8 volts. This is more of a software issue, but we could use some help from TI to figure out how to debug the issue.

3) I have a previous request for help on how to properly power the PMIC with no Battery, ensure it does not automatically turn ON and switches between my 5V standby supply and my 5V supply that turns on when PWR_EN is activated. The questions were mostly answered, but I would really like to get TI to quickly review my design to see if they can spot any issues.

Anyway, I would like to setup phone call or email with someone knowledgeable with the PMIC to review the issues above and help me close the last issues in my board design.

Sincerely,

Randy Holmberg
