Resistor Values LP2980-ADJ

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP2980-ADJ

Hello,

I need an Output Voltage of 5,8V (+- 70mV) out of a LP2980-ADJ. With the recommended 51.1k Resistor I don't get a good with the available resistors  (I shouldn't use "new" resistor values because of the overall system costs and logistics...)

The closext I get would be using 162k and 43k resistors which would  lead to 5,864V output voltage.

But the 43k definitely is not the recommended 51.1k resistor.

Can I use it anyway or will that cause other Problems?

Thanks!

  • Not sure what you mean by "... new ..."  resistor values. I presume any R value that you don't have in your inventory today would be ~new~ value?

    Yes, OK to use 43k. You can go lower if you need to, you just run a bit more current through R1 and R2.

    Using values higher than 51.1k would begin to create an offset error in Vout as the R value increased above 51.1k

  • For Vout= 5.800V and Vadj= 1.225V, best fits as 0.1% or 1.0% would be:

    Rtop= 54.9k , Rbottom= 14.7k

    Rtop= 73.2k, Rbottom= 19.6k

    Rtop= 121.k, Rbottom= 32.4k

    Rtop= 42.2k, Rbottom= 11.3k
