bq27500 - Golden Image File - Number of Cycles?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27500, BQ27510, BQ27500-V130

Hi all,

I tried to create a golden image file (DFI) for the bq27500 with bqEasy software. After 5 cycles (discharge - wait - charge - wait - discharge...) the status register was still set to 0x00 and the file was not created so far.

1. How many cycles does it usually need to create a dfi?

2. What could the problem be that the status register does not change to 0x02?

Thanks for your answer in advance!

Best regards

Rony

  • Hi Rony,

I have been struggling with the same problem recently. I found this post explained a lot about how the BQ27500 decides if a cycle has been completed or not, it was very helpful: http://e2e.ti.com/support/power_management/battery_management/f/179/t/33307.aspx if the link doesn't work search for "BQ27510 bqeasy error Dataflash.GasGauging.State.UpdateStatus does NOT = 2" in the forums. The part of the problem was that the BQ27500 didn't think it had seen a full charge/discharge cycle when it actually had.

I also found that my device shipped with firmware version 1.08 on it and wouldn't work properly until I updated it to 1.30. You can get the updated firmware at http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/bq27500-v130.html Search for SLUA453a to find instruction on how to update the firmware.

    Good luck!

    James
