Question about SM72295

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SM72295

Please let me know about two point below of SM72295.

・Can SM72295 use Bridgeless PFC?

If SM72295 can use, Is there an application note?

・Is there an application note (or refarence design) of over 1MW power application?

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Any update on this?
I think that SM72295 can use 1MW power application on parallel connection, is it correct?

    Best regards,
    Satoshi
  • The first nuclear power plant delivered ~5MW of electrical power. Today hobbyists ask: how can we manage more that 1MW of power using a small silicon chip. - Definitely, the future is here. :)

  • Satoshi,

Apologies for the delay. Your post was not showing up in my queue, but we have resolved that. Thanks for your patience.

The highest power TI Design for brdigeless PFC currently on the web is for a 310W application: http://www.ti.com/tool/PMP9640?keyMatch=null&tisearch=tidesigns-power

This may be of use as a reference for your needs.

How are you planning to use the SM72295 in the bridgeless PFC design? Note that the SM72295 is a dual 100V driver, so the bus voltage at the drain of any high-side FET driven by this part must meet this spec. If the plan is to drive low-side FETs only, we could recommend a more suitable driver if you let us know the MOSFETs used in the design.

    Regards,
