Is it possible to use this product stand-alone without microcontroller? I want to buy and use EV2300 to program all settings to BQ28400 via PC software (bq28400 Evaluation Software). And BQ28400 would perform cell balancing, protection from overvoltage, undervoltage and overecurent conditions. I don't need any information from BQ28400 (battery voltage, capacity etc.). Would you recommend this solution? Or maybe you have other solution for space saving (small package, without host controller), 2-cell battery pack protection. I am looking forward for quick replay.

The bq28400 can be used as a standalone device without a uC. However, this device uses our compensated end of discharge voltage device (CEDV) algorithm. Our Impedance Track (IT) algortihm provide more accurate guageing over the lifetime of the battery. the bq40z50 is our latest and greated in that space. However, you could use our single cell IT devices based on the circuit in the link below. It explains how to use our single cell guage with a multicell pack. A good single cell device to do this will be the bq27742

Thanks for Your answer. I want to use bq28400 only as battery protection. Main functions that are needed are: overvoltage,

undervoltage, overcurrent protection and cell balancing with two external transistors. Fuel gauge function is not needed in this project.
