TPS54326 – About Dual supply(VCC and VIN) operation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54326

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to use the following conditions.

[conditions]

Vcc=5.0V

Vin=2.1V to 4.2V (1cell)

Vout=1.2V

Iout=around 3A

Could you please let us know if you have any information?

[Q1]

Could you please let us know the VIN current at VCC=0V, VIN=4.2V, EN=0V?

I’m understanding that this value is lower than "10uA".

Because, according to the datasheet, the VCC current is 10uA(max) at VCC=VIN=12V, EN=0V.

[Q2]

According to the datasheet, the recommended range of VIN is “2.0V to 18V".

If VIN is less than 2.0V, Does this device become the unstable behavior?

Kanemaru

  • TPS54326 should work well for your application.

    1.  With EN low and VCC = 0V, the device is turned off.  So there is only the leakage of the VIN pin.  I measure about 0.05uA after a few minutes steady state.

    2.  As VIN decreases, the duty cycle increases.  The TPS54326 will regulate 1.2V well down to VIN = 2.1 V.  Below that voltage the required off time is less than the minimum off time, so the output voltage starts to decrease.  I checked it down to VIN = 1.7 V when VOUT = 1.008 V instead of 1.2 V.

  • Hi John-san,

    I greatly appreciate your cooperation!

    I will report this information to our customer.
