BQ2060A LED Status on Power Up

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALLIGATOR

I have a BQ2060AEVM unit.  The plugin interface from the board to the 2200 pc interface card is defective.  It lacks continuity on the Vcc  wire and the board connection, its missing the plugin contact lug.    As a work around connected the Vcc and GND pins with small alligator clip cables to the proper resources.  I expected the LEDs to cycle through when power (3.3V) is supplied but it didn't.   The EVM manual states the HDQ pin should be grounded when not in use.  Which I am using for communication to a uC.  Should the SMBC and SMBD pins be grounded if not in use for proper operation? Is the worse case scenario possible - defective board or do I need to initialize the board with the PC software first before HDQ communication?

  • You should have the following connections:

    1. Power supply - EVM: Power and Gnd connection

    2. EVM-EV2300: HDQ and Gnd connection

You can leave the SMBC and SMBD floating. Pull-down resistors are populated on the EVM.

The LEDs are RM indicator, so if you're below EDV and your RM is too low, the LEDs will not light up even if you press the button.

    Hope this help.
