LM25118 separate Vin from Power line

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM25118

Can I use LM25118 with separating Vin from Power line condition?

Our customer requirement is Vin=2.7V to 4.5V, Vout=3.3V, Iout=5.5A over, and Vin=2.7V to 4.5V, Vout=3.8V, Iout=2.5A.

I thought LM25118 can achieve this requirement if we can use LM25118 with separating Vin from Power line condition. For example we make 5V for Vin pin. Is my idea correct?

Please let me know if you have any concern or other good solution.

  • Kohei,

I would not suggest using a separate 5V rail for VIN. This is due to VIN being used to create the emulated current ramp. (section 8.3.3 of the datasheet has more detail on this). Also please note that the datasheet only guaranties VIN=3V for operation.

Another thing to consider is that there will need to be an external VCC supply for the part at this VIN operation range.
