TPS62366A/B max load current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62095, LP8754

Dear TI

On datasheet,

It's described 4A peak current on top page and 2.5A max as continous output current on recommended conditon.

And also it's 4A operation in Figures.

What does it mean 4A peak current? Other DC/DC device shows max load current. Is this same?

What is different between 4A peak current and 2.5A mas on continuous output current?

Is it possible to laod 4A continuously?

Thank you and best regards

  • This is explained in thermal and lifetime section near the end. This IC supports 4A peak currents that are typically found in processor core applications. Such peaks have a small duty cycle. The average current is much lower. Drawing 4A continuously will degrade the lifetime.

If you need 4A continuous, we have TPS62095.
  • Hi Chris-san,

Thank your your kindly support always.

Customer needs remote sense and I2C. And also needs 5A over. So I introduced LP8754 10A,6pahse.

But customer interested in TPS62366 series.

Do you have any new device for big current like TPS62366 series(I2C + remote sense) in your plan?
