BQ2052 or equivalent for 9V Primary Lithium Cell

The only component I've found that appears to be appropriate for fuel gauging Lithium Primary single cells is the BQ2052.  The absolute maximum VCC for the device is 7V.  I need to gauge an Energizer 9V Primary battery.  Is there either a way to adapt this component to work for the application or another component that would be appropriate for my application?
