Hello Team,

Could you tell me the recommended circuit of LM317 with 40Vin, 24Vout / 0.5A?

I can't make a judge from sample circuit of data sheet.

Also my opinion is Vout(max) = 37V.

Is my understanding correct?

Yes 37V; there is a typo error in the recnet data sheet formatting update.

My first thought is that the power lost is (40V - 24V) * 0.5A = 18 watts.
It will be very difficult to get that much heat out of the LM317.

Perhaps the TL2575HV-ADJ would be a more efficient and easy to implement choice.
