I would like to run a 317 with only 5 ma. of current (240 ohm resistor). I see lots of circuits in the data sheet, but the spec. says 10 ma. minimum or the voltage may rise. I think this is sensitive to the adjust current, and Vin to Vout voltage. The real question is can I do this and is there a way to predict the performance of the IC.
My input is 17 volts. Vout is 3.3 to 12 volts and current is 5ma (from the set resistor) to 0.5 amps.
