Question on the TPS65930 audio out for Class D amplifier

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2005D1, OMAP3503, TPS65930

Champs

my custoerm ahs the below questions:

For the audio requirement we are using the below circuit cascade

 OMAP3503 ->TPS65930->TPA2005D1 Class D amplifier -> 8 ohm Speaker

 For speaker related testing, we have a requirement to drive 0.5W through the speaker.

Section 6.5.1.1 of the TPS65930 datasheet specifies the Pre-driver characteristics and the Gain range of Max 30dB.

We had below queries in this regard

 1.       Since the input data comes over the I2S interface, what is the input voltage level considering while the gain is applied?

 2.       What is the maximum output voltage from the TPS65930 audio Predriver output?

Thanks

  •    Hi Mohsen,

    2. predriver outputs are 1.5Vpp amplitude, centered on a common mode of 1.35V => output signal is between 0.6 and 2.1V.

    1. I am not clear with the input voltage you are speaking about. Datasheet main data are mentionned for gain 0dB and 0dBFS signal from I2S. Applying a bigger gain with 0dBFS from I2S will lead to clipping at the output. Is it your question?
