1S1P Fuel gauge enable/disable discharge FET

I recommend the bq27742 gauge which has the ability to control the charge and discharge fets as the gauge's algorithm deems filt.Also, the bq40z50 has such ability as well.

Thank you for the reply. I need to select a charger and MCU with BTE to control this feature for a charging station application. Do you have any suggestions or an internal TI resource that can make some recommendations?

Thanks Onyx, one question came up.. for the fuel gauge, does both the discharge FET and charge FET need to be enabled when charging the cell with full charge current?

Or can the charge FET be enabled and discharge FET disabled and cell can still be charged normally with full charge current?

We want to charge the cell at 2A and a colleague believed that the cell needed both paths (charge and discharge FET) to charge cell.

Both fets will have to be turned on during charge or discharge otherwise the forward biased body diode of anyone which is not turned on will get damaged with that amount of current.
