TPS65910 Concerns

Hey Guys,

Hopefully you can offer some insight here. It's my understanding that the part does not work below 3.6V due the voltage drop across the LDOs.  On the 65910A3 part, the default voltages are:

                VCC1 = 3.3VDC generates 1.2V (VDD_MPU)

                VCC2= 3.3VDC generates 1.1V (VDD_CORE)

                VCC3= XXXX generates 3.3V (VAUX33 and VMMC)   <<<<<<<<<<<< PROBLEM

                VCC4= 3.3VDC generates 1.8V(VAUX1) and 3.3VDC (VAUX2)   <<<<<<<<<< PROBLEM

                VCC5 = 3.3VDC generates 1.8V (VDAC, VPLL)

                VCC6= 3.3VDC generates 1.8V (VDIG1, VDIG2)

                VCC7= 3.3VDC generate VTRC <<<<<<<<<<<<<< PROBLEM

                VCCIO= 3.3VDC generates 1.5V (VDD_DDR3)

I only have a single regulated 3.3V for VIN/VBAT for my board.  So my question is:

Can I boost the 3.3V to 5V for VCC3, VCC4, VCC7 and leave all the other pins (VCC1, VCC2, VCC5, VCC6, VCCIO) connected to 3.3V or are there internal diodes which will cross connect the different VCCs within the chip?

Thanks,

  • Hi Michael,

    You are right that VCC3 and VCC4 require 3.6V min input to provide 3.3V output. According to the notes in the Recommended Operating Conditions (5.3 In the datasheet), you can use the boost for VCC3, VCC4, and VCC7, but will also need to include VCC2 as it needs to be tied to VCC4. The rest can run off the 3.3V as they will be lower than VCC7.
