Return units with no communication, very slow SBS progress.

screen shoot after latch up recovery.docxHi,

I'm currrently doing a failure analysis of a Battery Pack, 4S1P, LiPoly.I receive a claim with 4 pieces from the customer with the failure " will not charge". After I hook up the EV 23000 noticed it was not able to communicate even after wake up, also noticed the SBS progress was very slow, measured the impedances from the Fuel gage pins and noticed the SCLK pin has a very low impedance 200 Ohms after isolate it fro mthe PCB circuitry. Disconnected the 4 cells from the PCBA and then the short circuit dissapeared.  Re-connected the cells to the PCBA and now the short was gone, hook up the EV2300 and I got communication and the following screen.

  • The SBS screen does not show any issues, so I assume that you can charge the pack now. We may be able to determine the original issue, if you can export a senc file from the pack and attach it to this message. You will need to place the gauge into ROM mode to export the senc file. Write 0F00 to SMB Command 00 on the Pro screen. Then use Flash Memory >> Read to File to save the file. You can then return the gauge to normal mode with the SMB Command 08.
