LMG5200: Are there any design tools to for the LMG5200 to calculate switching/conduction losses in buck applications? Spreadsheet, Mathcad, Webench...Etc?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG5200

Do we have any design tools to for the LMG5200 to calculate switching/conduction losses in buck applications? Spreadsheet, Mathcad, Webench...Etc?

Having a way to discern the efficiency versus switching speed and load for various applications is going to help with engineers to make decisions on choosing the optimum switching frequency, indcutor, and output capacitor. A MathCad or Excel spreadsheet tends to be very portable and can be put on ESP.

Webench will be nice as well, provided we can look separately at the LMG5200 under certain scenarios…especially where we may be controller limited.

  • Hello Shawn,
Thank you for the feedback and suggestions -- right now we do not have a specific tool for this calculation but are actively soliciting inputs on what collateral will be most useful and will be releasing new material as it is ready. In the short term all of our collateral is on www.ti.com/gan and can suggest our GaN Power Module white paper here for more specific discussion on switching loss mechanisms in buck converters: www.ti.com/.../slyy071
Please continue to post as you have more suggestions
