Hot swap controller

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5069, LM25069, LM25066, LM5066

Hello all,

Is there a TI solution for a hot swap controller with the following specs (preferably with an integrated FET)?:

Hot swapping these two input voltages:

5V in @ 30A Max

24V in @ 3A Max

The closest I've found is the LM5069 which doesn't have an integrated FET and it has min voltage of 9V, so doesn't quite meet the specifications.

Please let me know if you can find some other solution.

Thank you!

Salome

  • Hi Salome,

Currently, our eFuse products (integrated FET) can go up to 20V and/or 12A, so it cannot work for either of those power rails.

To hot swap each input, you would likely need two different controllers, each with their own set current limit (one for 3A, one for 30A).

We recommend the LM25069 for the 5V, and the LM5069 for the 24V. These devices can limit inrush current, provide active current limiting and MOSFET SOA protection (controls the power dissipated in the MOSFET to keep it operating within its SOA curve).

We also have more advanced devices with I2C interface. They can be digitally controlled and can report voltage, current, power, temperature and more. They would be the LM25066 (for the 5V rail) and the LM5066 (for the 24V rail).

    Thanks!
