BQ40Z60 - Configuring cell count without bqStudio

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z60, BQSTUDIO

I having some difficulty configuring the BQ40Z60 to detect a 4-cell battery pack. The default configuration is for 3 cells.

According to the Technical Reference Manual (SLUUA04), the “DA Configuration” register of “Other Data Flash” contains the cell count.  However, the address to which this register is mapped is nowhere to be found in the documentation.

I am specifically looking for a way to set the Data Flash without using bqStudio – just through custom firmware via SMBus.   Is there a document that lists the complete register map?

  • Charley,
We do not have a document that provides the physical addresses of parameters. You can load bqStudio and find the physical addresses in the Data Memory section. You will need to go to Window >> Preferences >> All Global Settings and enable Show Advanced Views. The DA Configuration register is located at address 0x495d and it is 1 byte.

  • Do you managed to config it, or made any progress? I would like to do the same.

  • I would like to get the addresses of the registers in the Data Flash, so I tried to change the settings as you suggested, but when I try to apply them bqStudio hungs and I can't do anything to recover it. I don't have any adapter compatible with BQStudio, don't know if this cuold be a problem for the software..

Is there any other way to get the information I need?

    Thanks,

    Bruno
