Hello Everyone,

I am doing a proof of concept project and is not meant for daily use. So in this case use of evaluation board is just sufficient.

Proof of concept:

Red Dotted line is my interest.
Design a Battery charger that can charge 18650 cell at 1C or max 2C rate.
Source of Battery charger is another Battery pack with high current discharge capability.

Need help:

I need help to find is the following EVM is capable of doing the job and doesn’t require a full design.

Battery Charger chip = BQ24610, EVM Module = EVM (HPA422) sluu396a

Any suggestion?

Fuel Gauge chip = BQ34z100-g1, EVM Module = bq34z100EVM sluu904a

The bq24610 EVM can be used as is for your application. Remember - the input battery voltage must be greater than the output battery voltage by at least 650mV. Otherwise, the bq24610 will be in sleep mode.

Ahsan,

You can change the sense resistor on SRP-SRN to a smaller value to (and follow the equations in the datasheet) to set the charging current to a higher level. Keep in mind that the EVM wasn't tested for operation above 10A, so be careful of the FETs and bq24610 overheating. You might want to replace the FETs if you plan on exceeding the continuous current rating of the FETs.
