BQ34Z110 - changing battery wires length

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z110

Hello.

We are using BQ34Z110 for Lead-Acid 12 V 7.2 A*h battery gauging. Let's say our gauge was trained with battery connected by wires of 0.2 m length.

Will Impedance Track algorithm work correctly if we connect battery with wires of 1,5 m length? We are specifically interested in "State of Charge" reading.

If yes, then will it work correctly from the beginning, or only after charge-discharge cycle(s)?

The wires above are multi-strand copper wires with 2.5 mm2 cross-section.

  • The additional length of wire will increase the series resistance and impact the accuracy. The gauge will relearn the resistance as the pack is used and accuracy will improve, but you will probably see more error in the beginning.
