Hi Everyone,

Please let me know about current limit at start-up. Is current limit function activated at start-up? Will TPS62080 shut off if the load current reach ILIM threshold due to large output capacitor?

Yes, it is active. But no, the device does not ever shutdown due to current limit. Per the D/S, it will operate at the current limit level.

Hi Chris-san,

Thank you for your quick response. I understand that the current limit function is active at start-up, but the regulator is not shutdown because it measures HS and LS FET current and turn-off HS and turn-on LS continuously if HS switch current limit is tripped. Is my understanding correct?

In current limit, the device continues to switch with the inductor current going between the high side and low side current limit thresholds.
