Power Factor Correction

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28061, UCC28180, UCC28063

Hello,

My power factor correction needs include a circuit with 400 VDC o/p that can be used for up to 800 W, with decent power factor correction for lower as well as higher power O/P values. power at the load. I'm currently using UCC 28061 for my power factor correction needs. I used the Evaluation module for the chip as guidance and redesigned the circuit be recalculating the component values. However its not working very well for me at higher powers loads. Could you recommend a  PFC controller best fit for the requirements.

Also, I looked but I couldnt find a sim model for UCC28061.Could you provide me with a simulation file for UCC28061.

  • hi, Shruti

UCC28180 is good for you design, UCC28180 is CCM PFC controller with 8pins package.
please refer to below link for more information.

  • Hello yunsheng,

Thank you for your recommendation. My I ask why do you think its not suitable to use UCC28061 for my design? Also, it is very important for me to get a simulation model for UCC28061. Could you please tell me whats the status on that?

    Regards,

    Shruti

  • Hello Shruti,

Unfortunately, we do not have a spice model for the UCC28061. We do however have one for the UCC28063 which is a very similar device. The spice model for the UCC28063 can be located at the link below.

  • Hello,

I found the PSpice model for UCC28061, but I believe it is encrypted and can only open in PSpice 15.7 or higher. Would it be possible to get an unencrypted model so I can use it with other simulation softwares.

On a slightly different subject on UCC28061, I wanted to test the stability of the closed loop network and was looking for a frequency response graph in the datasheet for the chip and the evaluation module, but could not find one. Could you provide me with one for reference.

    Regards,
