Good day Colleagues,

Could you tell me, why the BQ294700 also used with the BQ40Z60 on BQ40Z60EVM? Am I right, the BQ40Z60 can't see overvoltage of the each cell?

The bq40z60 monitors and protects for over voltage conditions just like our other gauges. Some applications require a 2nd level protector as a backup in the event that the primary protector is damaged. The 2nd level protector will blow the fuse and disable the pack, if a cell voltage is too high where is could risk causing a catastrophic cell failure.

The device offers Cell Undervoltage Protection (CUV) and Safety Cell Undervoltage (SUV) protection to open the discharge path. CUV will open the discharge FET and SUV will blow the fuse. The device can protect against deep discharge as long as the discharge path is through one of these components.
