BQ24298 powering a GSM modem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24298

Hi,

Currently I'm evaluating the BQ24298 for an USB powered cellular product. The idea is to have the GSM module powered through the USB via this chip with or without the battery plugged in. Knowing that the peak current for such an application is around 2A at (216Hz 577uS pulse width), the idea is to add enough bulk capacitance at the output to satisfy the demands.

Does anyone have additional pointers on this? Are there better ICs suited for such an application in the TI's product list?

Thanks!

Mohit
