bq40z60EVM battery always 100 %

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z60EVM-578, BQSTUDIO

Hi,

I want to build a BMS for 3 LiFePO4 batteries (A123 1100 mAh, ID 0404).

I’m using a bq40z60EVM-578, EV2300 and bqStudio (1.3.35).

Charging and discharging works fine (auto stop if a cell reach a limit), only the battery is always 100%????

Need I set a register? I use the default values (loaded chemistry 0404).

  • It is common for LiFePO4 cells to experience overshoot during charging, especially if they are not well matched. The overshoot usually reduces as the cells a cycled. You can reduce the charging rate to minimize the risk that one will overshoot. The cell balancing circuit can also help after the Update Status has reached 0E. You can also increase the COV threshold to allow more margin.
