BQ20z95 EVM current sensor is reading wrong current and Gas Gauge issue

Dear,

I've got some issues with my BQ20Z95 Demoboard :

When i put 2000mA in, it shows -2000mA and vice versa.
I've checked my connections several times and also re-done the calibration 5 times at least
(putting -2000mA between Pack- and Batt- FET control off)
My ampermeter shows me -2000mA, demoboard too when it's calibration.
But after when i'm putting -2000mA between Pack+ and Pack-,
Ampermeter shows -2000mA and DemoBoard 2000mA
due to this misreading gas gauge is going up instead of going down,
but whit cell voltage i'm 100% sure that cells are beeing discharged.
And when i'm cutting off the current, resend 0021 with SBS Command,
Gas Gauge is updated at the right level. I've tried a lot of things including
an inverse calibration (entering 2000mA when i'm using -2000mA)
but doing that make the card acting weird. Thank you in Advance for helping me.

Regards

Guillaume Authier

  • It sounds like calibration was done improperly. Make sure you set your load up for 2A.  The current must be in discharge for calibration, so it must be flowing from BAT- to PACK-. Try swapping your connections on those two pins.  Before attempting calibration again, write all calibration parameters back to their default value. If you still have problems after trying this, please attach a GG file after calibrating.

  • It seems you were right, i've done a full reset and used default values for parameters, then put -2A between BAT- and PACK- and enter +2A in the "enter current value" box and now everything seems to be working fine. Thank you.
