bq76940 current measurment

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76940EVM, BQ78350

hi team,

my customer T is

At the moment I´m working with the bq76940EVM and the Battery Management Studio, but I have problems with the current measurement.

In the bq78350 technical manual (SLUUAN7A) I found a register called “CC GAIN”. If I understand it correct, I can enter the value of the shunt in this register?!

  1. I´m able to enter values from 0.95 till 83.961. This is nearly congruent with the values that are given on page 133, but different to page 73 in the technical manual.

This is a little bit confusing.

Furthermore I´m asking myself, if it is really impossible to enter a value lower than 1mOhm? I would like to enter 0.2mOhm.

I have added some screenshots of the registers I mean.

Please let me know your address email so that i can forward you the complet email including a copy of the battery management studio.

  • Hi kamal,

The CC Gain and Capacity Gain were not intended as something that you write, but rather those numbers are written by the calibration program during mass production. For evaluation, you may use the calibration screen to calibrate the current. If a smaller sense resistor is use, then you will see the value of it appear in the dataflash after calibration. You may need to push the "read all" button to refresh the dataflash screen.

    Regards,
