BQ24103RHLR Stand-Alone 2-Cell Application D1 diode functionality

Hi, I am using BQ24103RHLR 2-Cell Li-Ion battery charger in my product. I made a mistake and did not specify D1 (MMBZ18VALT1) diode in my circuit. The diode is palced between OUT (PIN20, PIN1) and GND of the chip. In the datasheet it is mentioned that the diode is not required for BQ24103A, but I am using BQ24103RHLR. Is this diode critical with BQ24103RHLR chip? Can I get by without it for now and fix this issue on the next revision of my board?

Roman,

The diode is optional for the bq24103, bq25103A, and bq24104 so you are okay. You may have better performance on the next revision of your board if you add it, but the circuit will work fine without it.
