One of my customers intends to use TPS55340 for his boost application. His specifications are as given below :-
Input : 24VDC (from a regulated supply)
Output : 34V / 1 Ampere
Device selected : TPS55340
I want to know the core material of the inductor to be used in his 600KHz operating device. Is Ferrite core the appropriate material ?
Also, this customer is building the circuit on a general purpose board , though I have told him that these high frequency circuits need to be assembled on a regular PCB with ground plane, appropriate capacitors and selective components placed close to the TPS55340. However, he is adamant in going ahead with this 'general purpose PCB assembly. What are the problems that he is likely to encounter ?
Poor regulation
High 'noise'
and what else
