BQ24650 EVM

I am testing battery chargin with the EVM, I replaced the current sense resistor (R6) as well as R13/R15 for charge current. I have other EVMs that have the same replacements that are verfified working, but for this EVM it is not charging.

When powered from a DC supply to charge a Li-ion battery pack, nothing happens. As soon as I disconnect the positive battery lead, STAT1 lights up to indicate it is charging, but that is not the case as the battery is disconnected. When the battery lead is connected STAT1 turns off and no charge is applied to the battery.

Ideas as to why STAT1 would be pulled low with no battery connected?

  • Hi Brett,

What are the new values for R6, R13, and R15? Could you also provide the voltages for all the other pins? A scope capture of STAT1, battery current, SRN, and PH node would be good to see as well.

  • I will provide scopes tomorrow, as I am about to leave for the day.

    R6: 300 mOhm
    R15: 22K
    R13:130K

Charge voltage would be 14.51V at a rate of 133 mA.

I recieved two EVM boards, and replaced components on each board at the same time. One board is functioning properly, while the other is not.
