I only want to use this as an “Ideal Diode” with load switching and do not want any of the other protection functions.

I see how the under and over voltage functions can be disabled, but am wondering if it is possible to disable to current sense feature as well.

I also do not want to slow down the switching time of the FET with the “Timer” pin. I am assuming I can just leave this floating to ensure the FET will respond as fast as possible?

Hi Adam,

If an ideal-diode device is needed, then you may consider the LM5050 ORing controller. ORing devices are meant to serve as an ideal diode and may accomplish what you are looking for.

LM5050 does not have UV/OV, current limit, or timer. It also has stronger switching characteristics (stronger gate sourcing current, and gate pull down current) and is in a smaller footprint than the LM5060.

The LM5050 will also shut down very quickly if there is reverse current (such as if an input supply fails), whereas the LM5060 is a hot swap and current will drain from VOUT to VIN through the MOSFET's body diode when shut off.

Hi Adam,

EDIT: Reviewing this previous thread, I realize I had misspoke. The correct answer is NO, the LM5050 cannot be used as a load switch to turn on/off current from the supply to the load. If you would like to shut off high power current from IN to OUT, the correct device to use would be LM5060 or LM5069.
