TPS2379EVM with 60W PSE

Hello Team,

Should J6&J7 be installed shunt for TPS2379EVM when I use 60W PSE (PD-9501G)?

PSE supplies power when my customer uses TPS2379EVM with AT-6101GP(PoE+) at the no load.

However, PSE supply power is blinking when my customer uses TPS2379EVM with PD-9501G(UPoE) at the no load.

In the case of both, PSE can supply power if adding a some load to the output.

Best Regards,

  • Matsunami-san,

I am not familiar with the PSE protocol of the PD9501G. It's datasheet does not discuss how it implements UPOE.

However, for both conditions, from what you describe, it seems that all you need is slight loading on the output. And this is true for both the .at standard and UPOE (as UPOE is an extention of the .at standard). There is minimum load required to keep the PSE on. This is called MPS or Maintain Power Signature and it is at least 10mA per port of the PSE.

  • Hello Derwin,

    I appreciate your quick support.

    I understood it.
