Synchronization of TPS54040, TPS54240 and TPS54340

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54340, TPS54040, TPS54240, TPS54040A

Hi,

I want to build a power supply with 4 different voltage and I want to use the TPS54040, TPS54240 and TPS54340.

The TPS54040A should make +/-15V (Vcc1), the TPS54240 should make +15V (Vcc2) and the TPS54340 should make +24V (Vcc3).

I want that all of this IC are work synchron and all should work with the same frequency (500kHz).

For Vcc1 I use the appnote SLVA369A to get a positiv and a negative supply voltage and I ant to use SLVA540 to get the syncronisation pin referd to the main ground.

I don't have a external clock for the synchronization.

My question is, can I use the clock of one of the three controller IC to synchronizated the other two?

If yes have you an application note? (I didn't found one)

Thank you very much.

Regards

Sascha J.

  • You can use this circuit to synchronize your DC DC converters. Assign one the DC DCs as the master and derive an external clock from its PD pin. Apply the output voltage at RT/CLK to the circuit in the TPS54240 data sheet, page 24.

    Hello Sascha,

I have a proposed circuit I think can help. See the attached file.
