Product testing of TL1963A-15EVM

Hi,

I have been testing the evaluation module of TI Low dropout voltage regulator - TL1963A-15EVM

In the Datasheet of TL1963A-xx, on page 6, the units of line and load regulation are given as mV. But according to the formula,

Line Regulation = Vout2-Vout1 / Vin2-Vin1

Load regulation = Vout2-Vout1 / ILoad2-ILoad1

If we see according to the formula, Line Regulation is a dimensionless quantity and Load regulation is measured in Ohms.

Could you please give me clarity on how the datasheet values are mentioned, it would be very helpful to my project

Load and line regulation are most often expressed in either absolute Volts, or as a percentage of the nominal or average output voltage. Where the regulation is very tight, it often makes more sense to express it in absolute mV rather than as a percentage, which is the case for this device.

Oh. Thanks for the answer.

But do I divide the output voltage difference with the input voltage difference to obtain this value?

Or just the output voltage difference is the line and/or load regulation value as along as we give the input voltage and load current in the specified limits as mentioned in the datasheet ?

Line and load regulation is typically specified in volts, or as a percentage of the output voltage nominal or average level, with the range of load current or line voltage specified alongside.

It's not common practice to divide the output regulation in volts by the range of input voltage or output current.
