TPS53219A UVLO threshold

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53219A

Hi

Is VREG threshold(Min/Max) which is described on the datasheet showed at all operating temperature range?

(-40~85degC?)

The device (TPS53219A) does not operate on the customer board even if the VREG is over 4.5V@VIN=4.6V.
However it operate at 60 degC at same condition.

  • I have contacted the apps engineers that support this. They should respond soon.
  • Hi John-san

Thank you for your quick reply.

I found a cause for this issue. The voltage of EN pin is 1.0V when VREG=4.5V@VDD=4.6V. (It is below spec (min=1.8V))
( The EN pin is connected VDD via resistor to set the UVLO of VDD.)

However some sample operates at that condition. That why we have concerned the temperature variation of UVLO at VREG.

Is it possible to operate even if the voltage of EN pin is 1V?

  • I am not 100% certain about TPS53219A, but most parts specify the EN threshold with a minimum on voltage and a maximum off voltage, similar to digital logic gate.  In most cases, the actual threshold voltage is somewhere in the middle usually between 0.8 and 1.2 V.  So it does not surprise me that you may see that.  Hopefully the assigned apps engineer can verify the actual on threshold and hysteresis.

  • hi,
The minimum Enable voltage for this part is 1.8V and disable_max=0.5V. since we don't have any data to prove that ,It is not guaranteed to operate this part when EN=1V.
  • Hi John-san, Benjamin-san

    Thank you for your support.

The information both of you gave me was very helpful. We will talk to the customer about these information.

    Please close this.
