Hi i am using LMZ14203H regulator in one of our new power supply board, and the output is 12V , input 24V , when ever i'm trying to do a load test after 5 min its going to thermal shut down, and the load connected was 30W from E-LOAD, Did anyone faced thins kind of issue before? need help from someone regarding this

Webench indicates your junction temperature rise should be about 31.5 degrees C. Perhaps your layout is not optimal or you have other heat generating components close by. I'm going to move this to the Simple Switcher forum as well.

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply, but I used two LMZ14 series regulator but im doing load test for only one . but still its heating up. when i measured with thermometer the temperature was around 100 degree C .

Hi Mithun,

Do you mind sending us your schematic and layout for review? Based on datasheet efficiency curves and Theta JA of the module, the temperature rise shouldn't trigger thermal shutdown. Please check the exposed DAP is soldered down nicely and there are enough vias and metal on the PCB to help heat dissipation.
