BQ27621EVM-G1 new board, no activity.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, BQSTUDIO, BQ27621-G1
Everything is set up exactly as shown in this doc http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluuam6b/sluuam6b.pdf
Everything is new out of the box, the cells attached are charged.
The studio seems to work ,comms with the EV2400 look correct,  but it does not see any devices attached to the EV2400.
(no devices detected)
I have two of these board and they both do nothing.
Not sure where to go from here, everything looks right, but both the EVM boards are inert.
Did I miss something?
  • Hello Tim,

Could you paste a screenshot of what happens when you open bqStudio?

Could you also measure VDD pin on the EVM?

    Thanks,

    Kang Kang

  • Cells were good, but the pack protector was disabled on the discharge side so the board was not getting power. It's working now.
    Thanks.
  • What is the best way to scale this part for a 4P, 9AH pack?

Hi Tim, sorry for the delay in getting back to your question!

Divide the Design Capacity and Design Energy parameters by 10 (so a 9 Ah pack would be programmed into the bq27621-G1 as 900 mAh, and the same process would be applied to Design Energy). Just remember that you will need to multiply the capacity, power, and current readings from the bq27621-G1 by 10 to get the correct numbers (State of Charge is not affected as it's merely a ratio of the Remaining and Full Charge Capacity measurements).

    Regards,

    Jason
