bq34z100 currnet calibration error Issue.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100, BQ34Z100-G1

Hi, this is KIM from korea.

I use to setup bq34z100 evm. I use to setup at 13S cell system.

1, there is no load

2, Fallow design steps  right.

3. setup calibrate steps1-4.

usually, It could be 0 mA in current value.

But, there is unexpect value in current value.

Please let me know how can i solve this problem?

  • Kim,
Did you calibrate the Board Offset? This may be introducing an offset. I would set the Board Offset to 0 in the data flash and then calibrate the Coulomb Counter Offset (Step 1) and Pack Current Calibration (Step 4). This should set the current to 0. If it is not zero, then I would short across the SRP and SRN pins on the device and see how this affects the current reading. It it stays the same, then there is an offset on the board.

I would also recommend that you switch to the bq34z100-G1 firmware, if you are just starting your design. It is an upgrade to this device and the firmware can be loaded into your existing EVM. You can download the firmware and evaluation software program from the bq34z100-G1 website.

  • thank for your reply.

I calibrated all steps.I still get enexpect value in current value.

I think there is some noise through SRP patten and SRN patten.

please give me advise that remove noise in SRP patten and SRN patten.

  • Is this a new EVM? I have not had noise current reported in the EVM that cannot be calibrated out. Maybe the EVM or the device is damaged. I would remove the series resistors in the coulomb sense path to try to find out what is causing the noise current.
