BQ34Z100-G1 50A Application

Hello,

This is for a 12V, 50A draw application. I'm getting tripped up on what sense resistor size to choose. Any guidance on going about calculating this value would be appreciated.

Thanks,

R04

  • You need to size the sense resistor to keep the voltage across SRN / SRP less than 125mV. (100mV would be better). This will limit your sense resistor to 2 to 2.5 mohm.
  • If your charge or discharge current exceeds 32A or if the capacity exceeds 29Ah, then you will need to use current and capacity scaling. You will need to determine the scaling factor to keep from exceeding either of these values and then divide all of the current and capacity parameters by this value. You will then need to scale the current when you calibrate the pack. e.g. If the scale factor is 10, then you would enter -2000mA in the Actual Current field if you use a 20A discharge current to calibrate the pack. All current and capacity values will be reported as scaled values and you will need to multiply them by the scale factor to find the true values.
