Ioutmax for TLV711

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV711

Hi,

If PD(max) = (Tjmax – TA)/RƟJA = (125 -25) /170 = 588 (mW),and Iout = PD/(Vin – Vout) = 588/(5-2.5) = 235 (mA), this Iout is for one output, or the total of the two outputs of TLV711?

Thanks.

  • Hello Mark,

Thank you for your inquiry. My team will respond on the next US business day.

  • Hi Mark,

One thing to keep in mind is that each output is rated to 200mA independently; therefore, the max for each channel should not exceed 200mA.

The max current in each channel based on thermals depends on your use case. Are both outputs set to the same output or different outputs? It may be best to approach this from a different perspective.

What we are looking to do is not exceed Tjmax. First calculate PD for each channel independently. Add PD for channel 1 to PD for channel 2. Use PDtotal to calculate the rise in temperature due to dissipation.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
