HVES Hold-up Circuit for 28VDC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25940, TPS2490, LM5069

I need help designing a 28V 400W hold-up capacitor circuit.  I found a great older application note:

www.ti.com/.../Topic_5_Picard.pdf

along with a presentation:

http://focus.ti.com.cn/cn/download/shared/panasia/sem908009_5_Picard_slides_V4.pdf

However, it specifies a part, TPS2355, that doesn't seem to exist.

I found a more resent discussion:

http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/tidu506/tidu506.pdf

which uses a TPS25940.  However, it is not the correct voltage.  Could someone help specifying the correct parts?

Thanks!

  • Hi Mick,

For a 28V design, we do not have an IC which uses an internal MOSFET (like the TPS25940 you had mentioned).

You can check out our website at www.ti.com/hotswap. Under the "Tools & Software" tab we have a new selection tool to help find an appropriate part. If you are confused about any of the features discussed, simply click the question mark icon to learn more.

For 28V 400W I would suggest looking at the TPS2490 or LM5069 as a starting point.

    Thanks!
    Alex
  • Hi Mick west,

Finally, did you find a good candidate for your application?
