BQ34Z120

Hello,

Apparently when using NiMH cells one should use the BQ34Z120 and not the BQ34Z100. How can this be, the datasheet for the BQ34Z100 specifically states that it does and I quote from the datasheet:

bq34z100-G1 Wide Range Fuel Gauge with Impedance Track™ Technology
1• Supports Li-Ion, LiFePO4, PbA, NiMH, and NiCd • Light Electric Vehicles
Chemistries

I cannot find the BQ34Z120 anywhere. Is this device still in development?

  • The bq34z100 and bq34z110 were move to NRND and the bq34z120 will not be released. The bq34z100-G1 was released to support Li-Ion, LiFePO4, PbA, NiMH and NiCd chemistries.

    I have an eval board with a bq34Z100-G1 installed. I have been trying to get it working with 12 NiMH standard 1.2V cells arranged serially. For some reason I cannot get the SOC values to change. It stays at 0% continuously.

  • The Cell Term V and Flash Update OK Voltage parameters are too high. Try the attached srec file and then calibrate the voltage.
